Surface Processing

The basic idea of surface technology in medical technology is the principle of functional separation between the volume of a component or a tool and its surface. The volume fulfills a primary function (mostly a certain shape such as with gears) and has other properties such as weight, strength, workability, but also e.g. B. a low price. The surface can then be optimized with the aid of surface technology processes to meet a specific requirement profile and thus perform further functions. Surface treatment in the field of medical technology includes, among other things, chrome plating, tinning, metal coating, blackening, galvanizing.
